MDC Homestead Campus Remembers Hurricane Andrew in Photos
Miami, August 9, 2012 – In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Andrew, Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Homestead Campus and Art Gallery System will host After the Storm: Photographs by Barry Fellman, a series of photos that capture the aftermath of the Category 5 storm at Tamiami Airport, among the hardest hit areas of South Dade.
The exhibition opens on Monday, August 20, in the Homestead Art Space located in the campus’ library. The photographs will remain on display through Friday, Sept. 14. There will be a closing reception at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, including an artist talk by Fellman. It is free and open to the public.
Fellman is a Miami native and current director of the Center for Visual Communications in Wynwood. He is a Silver Knight awardee and recipient of a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant for visual art. His prints and photographs have been shown across the U.S.
Gallery hours: Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.; Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Closed on Sunday.

Campus Homestead del MDC recuerda paso del huracán Andrew con exposición fotográfica
Miami, agosto 14, 2012 – En conmemoración del vigésimo aniversario del paso del huracán Andrew, el Campus Homestead del Miami Dade College (MDC) y el Sistema de Galerías de Arte (AGS) presentarán las secuelas de la tormenta categoría 5 en el Aeropuerto de Tamiami, una de las zonas más afectadas del sur del Condado Dade.
La exposición será inaugurada el lunes 20 de agosto, en Homestead Art Space, ubicado en la biblioteca del campus, y permanecerá abierta hasta el viernes 14 de septiembre. Habrá una recepción de clausura el jueves 13 de septiembre a las 5 p.m., así como una charla a cargo del autor, el fotógrafo Barry Fellman. La entrada es libre y gratuita para el público en general.
Fellman nació en Miami y actualmente se desempeña como director del Centro de Comunicaciones Visuales (Center for Visual Communications) en Wynwood. Ha recibido el premio Silver Knight, así una subvención de la Fundación Pollock-Krasner en la categoría de artes visuales. Sus fotografías y grabados han sido incluidos en exposiciones de todo el país.
