Paola Gracey’s vibrantly colored paintings share formal qualities of line and rhythm with the pours of Morris Louis and Helen Frankenthaler, incorporating ideas and media she has been exploring for over a decade. The paintings are rooted in the compounds and chemicals that describe the materials, liquids and gases that are part of our everyday world. Paola is a chemist by training and at times incorporates chemical equations and symbols into her paintings. “After all isn’t everything chemistry?” Paola says. Her passion is working with the physical aspects of acrylic, epoxy, and oils, exploring their every combination and limitations on canvas. “Through my art, I aim to stimulate the eyes and the imagination.”
