Spike Planet
Installation by Barry Fellman

During the summer many palm trees produce an inflorescence (spike) which takes the form of a branched tree-like structure near the top of the tree. These Inflorescences although massive are often overlooked as they grow in the shadows of the trees’ leaves. This immersive installation brings attention to the flora and natural environment hidden in plain view.

Spike Planet is comprised of dynamically changing sculptural elements, set lighting, video and still images. It’s initial presentation was made at Locust Projects, Miami FL in 2015.
